Our policies

Sustainability

We firmly believe that a successful business and corporate responsibility go hand in hand in sustainable development. We aim for corporate sustainability in every part of our business, so that guests, team members, the environment, local communities and all our stakeholders understand and benefit from what we do. Our commitments:

  • Managing the use of energy and natural resources efficiently
  • Minimising the environmental impact of the materials and products we use
  • Protecting our natural and cultural heritage
  • Ensuring equality without discrimination on the grounds of religion, denomination, language, ethnicity, colour, gender, marital status, political opinion, age, disability or similar
  • Supporting projects for the development of our region and the wellbeing of its people
  • Buying from companies that work in line with sustainable development
  • Increasing local employment
  • Meeting the legal responsibilities related to our activities

Purchasing

  • We choose raw-material suppliers that comply with applicable laws and regulations.
  • We ask suppliers to care for the environment, to take measures to minimise their environmental footprint and manage their waste properly, to avoid landfill wherever possible, and not to pollute soil, air or water.
  • We choose suppliers that provide their employees with a safe workplace, with a focus on subcontractors and on-site service providers bound by all regulations.
  • We choose suppliers with high business ethics that prevent corruption of any kind, compete fairly and respect the intellectual property of others.
  • We prefer suppliers that follow ISO standards such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 and the ten principles of the United Nations Global Compact.

Environmental protection and waste management

We have adopted, as a goal and a principle, applying the necessary environmental and waste management procedures, ensuring the conditions for them and providing the resources they need. We consider the environmental risks of everything we do and work to reduce them to an acceptable level. This covers sustainable use of resources, attention to recycling and to water and air quality, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and the protection of ecosystems.

  • Environmental criteria are considered in investment decisions.
  • The possible environmental impact of every activity is considered.
  • Threats to the environment are identified.
  • When choosing materials and equipment, those with the least environmental impact are preferred.
  • Environmental awareness is treated as part of our organisational culture.

Energy efficiency

Sustainable growth is at the heart of what we do, and we know it is only possible as long as we live by the principles of a sustainable environment and energy use. We therefore commit to:

  • Using natural resources efficiently
  • Increasing recycling and recovery
  • Using energy-efficient technologies
  • Using energy-efficient products
  • Supporting high-performance design
  • Complying with legal and other requirements on the environment and energy
  • Improving our environmental and energy performance
  • Taking the measures needed to reduce the negative environmental impact of our activities
  • Reviewing our aims and targets periodically

Women’s rights and gender equality

  • We organise how we work from a gender-equality perspective.
  • We do not see women as a single category; we take diversity and difference into account.
  • We oppose discrimination based on age, ethnicity, marital status, belief, denomination, physical ability and gender identity.
  • We make sure all our work is accessible to all women, including women with disabilities.
  • All written, spoken and visual content we produce, including online, is free of sexist and racist language, gender-based discrimination, misogyny and hate speech.
  • We take the international human rights conventions as the foundation of our work.

Children’s rights

Children’s rights define the rights children have everywhere in the world, and the steps taken to protect them. From birth, every child has the right to education, health, life, shelter, and protection from sexual or psychological exploitation. Children are vulnerable to adults and to other children, which is why protecting these rights matters for every child.

  • We do not allow child labour, and we expect the same of our partners.
  • We make sure children taking part in activities are supervised by their families and our staff.
  • We organise activities that raise awareness of the protection of children’s rights.
  • If we witness suspicious behaviour involving children, we inform the management first and, where necessary, ask the authorities for help.
